How to Replace Your Lost or Stolen ID: A Step-by-Step Guide
Losing your ID or having it stolen can be stressful, but replacing it is a straightforward process through the Irembo platform. Follow this guide to navigate the replacement procedure with ease.
Step 1: Visit an Irembo Agent
Start by declaring your lost identity card at your nearest or preferred Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) station.via Irembo platform
Step 2: Receive an Appointment
After your declaration, you will receive an appointment notification via SMS, instructing you on when to report you to the RIB station.
Step 3: Await Approval
Keep an eye out for an approval message from RIB, which will include a payment number for your replacement ID.
Step 4: Make Your Payment
Within 3days, go to the nearest Irembo agency with the payment number you received. A fee of 1500 RWF is required for the replacement.
Step 5: Provide Your Information
While filling out the necessary information, you’ll have the option to select a different location for picking up your new ID if you prefer.
Step 6: Confirmation of Application
Upon successful payment, you will receive an SMS confirming that your application has been processed and forwarded to the National Identification Agency (NIDA).
Step 7: Receive Your ID
After approximately 30 days, you will get a notification informing you that your ID has been produced and the location where it will be sent.
