ID Loss Process
The process of a lost or stolen identity card
- Citizens who lost their IDs or those with damaged IDs must report it to the RIB through irembo.gov.rw/user/citizen/service/nida/replacement_of_national_id
- After making a notification the citizen receives an SMS or email informing him that his notification has been received;
- He is immediately given an appointment to report himself at the nearest RIB station;
- The person who declares that he has lost his ID is given a certificate to replace his ID in the event of his choice;
- Once RIB has confirmed that the identity card has been lost, the citizen is given a code so that he can proceed his request;
- Once the citizen has paid, his or her request goes automatically in NIDA system;
- Once the Registrar of Civil Status has confirmed his / her request, the citizen receives an SMS informing him / her that an ID replacement certificate has been obtained;
N.B: Payment is done through Irembo
